Structural check

The structural check proves a GSTIN is well-formed: it catches typos, transpositions and fabricated numbers, because the 15th character is a checksum over the first fourteen. It cannot prove the GSTIN is registered and active; that needs the government record, which the live check above provides once enabled. Verify status on the GST portal before relying on it for ITC.
